I have obtained a valuable experience in public health through active participation in local community events (Caring Hands, Give Kids a Smile, school screenings, educational presentations to the community).
You will learn about oral conditions of my patient before treatment, all assessments, created treatment plan, implementation of care, re-evaluation of care and obtained results
Caring Hands
In November 2024, I had an opportunity to participate in a community event "Caring Hands" at the Eugene Fairgrounds. Later, in April 2025, I joined another "Caring Hands" at the Corvallis Fairgrounds. These events offered free dental cleanings to individuals without insurance or access to affordable dental care. It was meaningful to me to make a positive impact in the community and work in unusual environment. One of my patients was invited to the LCC Dental Clinic for continuing treatment. Take a look at the photos below from these days.
Give Kids a Smile
On March 1, 2025, our class provided free dental services to 40 children including x-rays, prophy, fluoride varnish application, sealant placements. We were happy to make a positive impact by improving the oral health of kids without dental insurance and giving essential oral hygiene instructions. Below the pictures from that day.
School Screenings
During the second year of the program, I completed several screenings at Eugene schools. This allowed me to gain valuable experience with developing new skills in a community-focused settings. Below the pictures with my classmates from schools.
Presentations to the Community
During the second year of the program, I gained an experience in delivering presentations to the community. Working in small groups with my classmates, we collaborated on three different projects for presentation. As a team leader, I took charge of designing the PowerPoint slides and managing the organizational aspects for a presentation we delivered to an elementary school audience of 2nd graders. Below, you can explore the slides from this presentation.
